About Me
It may have taken me until I was 55, but I feel like I've
finally found 'my thing' Becs Buss, Funeral Celebrant
After the death of both of my parents, and my parents-in-law, in less than 4 years, I realised the important part their funerals played, in me beginning to deal with my loss. As well as giving me the chance to share my grief, they were also a chance for me to hear the wonderful memories others had of them, and to share my own.
This prompted me to train as a Funeral Celebrant in 2023 and I led my first funeral, in November, that year.
I was trained by, Tina Bowden, a highly respected local Celebrant who, in 2006, became the first Civil Celebrant in Norfolk. I first worked with Tina, as part of her 'Mulberry Days' team. Following Tina's retirement and the disbanding of Mulberry Days, I became an independent Celebrant in 2025.
I currently work part-time as a Celebrant (mainly Mondays and Fridays) and I've delivered over 50 funeral services, so far. I love what I do and am hugely proud of the wonderful feedback I receive from the families I work with. Please have a read of my Testimonials (and look me up in Trustpilot), to decide whether I might be the right Celebrant for you.

What is a Funeral Celebrant?
'Because everyone deserves a good send off'
As a Funeral Celebrant, I'm the person you can turn to, to conduct your loved one's (or your own) funeral, if you don't want to use a family member, or a faith leader.
Using a Funeral Celebrant means that you can include both religious and non-religious elements in your service - what ever will most closely reflect your loved one.

My Continuing Professional Development
'Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.' Dr Seuss
The longer I am a Funeral Celebrant, the more I learn.
Whilst I initially trained with an experienced and well-respected local Funeral Celebrant (Tina Bowden from Mulberry Days), a couple of years into my Celebrant journey (and having led more than 50 funerals) I wanted to develop my skills further. So enrolled on the Celebrant Plus course with the amazing Award winning Wedding & Funeral Celebrants Sussex | Kate & Kate at Home - Match & Dispatch.
I was drawn to them, because they had a much broader and more creative approach to funerals, which really resonated with me and the way I wanted to support families to remember and celebrate their loved ones.
Completing the Celebrant Plus course enabled to build on my initial training and re-enforced some of the things that I had already been doing. It now means that I can really 'go the extra mile' for the families I work with (whether planning their own, or someone else's, funeral) and support them to consider and access ALL the options available, to create a funeral that truly represents the person.
The Celebrant Accord
'You only get one chance to get it right'
The Funeral Celebrant Accord defines the attributes and skills required of an excellent funeral celebrant and is intended to set the standards by which all
celebrants offering funeral services should be measured.
As a Celebrant, who has adopted the Accord, I am committed to:
- Being professional
- Caring for my clients
- Remaining calm and showing natural leadership
- Writing personalised ceremonies
- Caring about and committing to my ongoing self-development
The elements of the Accord underpin and inform all my work as a Celebrant. If you would like to know more about it, click the button below.
